Q.  How long has Echo Park been open?
A.  Echo Park started operation in 1961 in Bloomfield Hills.  The school relocated to the current location in Farmington Hills in 2002.

 
Q.  Is Echo Park a private school?
A.  Echo Park School and Camp is a private, non-profit school governed by a board of directors.

 
Q.    What are the hours of operation?
A.  Echo Park has a wide array of scheduling options:
  • Full-days
  • Half-days
  • A combination of full- and half-days
  • Supervised lunches
  • Extended hours 

The school day begins at 9:15 a.m. and ends at 3:15 p.m.  Extended hours begin at 8:00 a.m. and end at 5:00 p.m.

 
Q.  What are the qualifications of the staff?
A.  Director Diane Quarles has been with Echo Park for 28 years.  All lead teachers have bachelor's degrees in early childhood education, elementary education or child development.  Many also hold master's and doctoral degrees.

 
Q.  How many children are in each class?
A.  The maximum number of children in each class is 16.  The ratio of students to teachers for younger students (ages 2-3) is 2 or 3 teachers to 12 students.  For older students (age 4-6), the ratio is 2 teachers to 16 students.  Whenever a class is held, regardless of the number of children in the class, there are always 2 adults.

 
Q.  What is the curriculum at Echo Park?
A. 

 We have designed a curriculum with enough flexibility to accommodate each child's individual growth patterns.  Your child is introduced to a variety of new experiences and encouraged to explore, manipulate, experiment and learn.  Our goal is to help your child develop a positive self-image and the confidence to successfully proceed on his or her educational journey.

 
Q.  Beyond academics, what other classes does Echo Park offer?
A.  Echo Park offers several school "specials," which include drama, gym, music and access to our school library.  Many enrichment programs are offered for full-day students, including Spanish, computers, and science.  Special reading and math classes are also available.

 
Q.  How can I make a difference at Echo Park?
A.  Parent participation is welcomed and encouraged!  The Echo Park Parents Association (EPPA) connects Echo Park families with the common goal of keeping Echo Park School and Camp the premier facility in Oakland County.  Activities include fundraising, organizing family events that show our children that learning is FUN.
